Watch these on trend pieces | Published on 18 July 2017 Do you wear a watch? In today’s world, it is mostly acceptable to wear a watch in almost any social occasion. Finding the right watch is a bit like finding the right pair of shoes. It needs to be comfortable, stylish and make a statement. After all, it is a long term commitment right? Matching the right kind of watch to what you are wearing will only bring more definition to your outfit. But it can also get quite confusing on how to dress it up. There always is a certain etiquette associated with wearing a wrist watch, so here are the latest trends from Angus & Coote and advice on how they should be worn by pairing them with a few gorgeous designer pieces from Piperlane... The dress watch: The “Obaku” and “Tissot” watches in gold are dainty and a little finer with a touch of sparkle and pearl. Ones like these can definitely be worn as a dressier option for any special occasion. I wore this Obaku watch with a poppy colour outfit called the “set aside pant and top set” by Cmeo. The poppy/coral colour definitely compliments the gold accents and white face of the watch. The classic watch: The “Frederique Constant” watch has a fine slim line linked silver band and an elegant black face which means it’s a great option for both night and day. These classics can certainly play an important role on your wrist even though they’re so simple, so wearing them correctly can be quite tricky. Make sure a larger face such as this one doesn’t overpower your wrist size. If you have smaller wrists opt for a smaller size face and thinner band. Same goes for a larger wrist, wearing a slightly bigger face will minimise the wrist size and compliment the watch more. Keep in mind a huge face can also look more masculine and sporty. The gender- bending watch: The “Emporio Armani” watch I wore is actually a man’s watch. Who says women can’t pull them off? We certainly can! They are a casual- chic modern look and are the seasons hit on trend. There are all types of man style watches and dressing them up correctly with more feminine garments will only make the look a little more softer. I’ve dressed it with this Ivory “Marta” blazer jacket by Misha and paired it with one of my favourite cool pair of jeans and a classic shirt. By Nikolina Borg
